If you spend enough time around Maggie Pond or Peak 9, you might just catch a flash of color in the corner of your eye — a shimmer that dances across the snow or ripples through the summer sky. Some say it’s just sunlight bouncing off the water…

But locals — and our campers — know better.

It’s the Rainbow Goose.

🪶 A Goose Unlike Any Other

Long ago, there lived a young goose at Maggie Pond whose feathers weren’t white or gray like the others. They shimmered in rainbow hues — reds, blues, yellows, and greens that glowed in the sunlight.

But instead of celebrating the colors, the other geese teased and honked at the Rainbow Goose. Feeling hurt and out of place, the Rainbow Goose spread its wings and flew high into the mountains — all the way to the 4th of July Bowl, where it could rest in peace beneath the snow.

For a long time, the goose stayed away.

Then one summer, while the Mountain Top Explorium team was setting up for camp, someone spotted a flash of color gliding over Maggie Pond again. The Rainbow Goose had returned — shy, curious, and cautious — to see if things had changed.

We started leaving little treats out: sparkly feathers, shiny pebbles, and even a few rainbow candies. And to our surprise, the Rainbow Goose began leaving something back — nests of rainbow eggs filled with colorful treats, feathers, or footprints that led to the next surprise.

That’s when we realized the goose's secret:

The Rainbow Goose only visits places where people are being inclusive, fair, and kind.

💫 A Symbol of Inclusion and Wonder

Today, the Rainbow Goose has become a Mountain Top Explorium legend — and a cherished symbol of what we stand for.

The story reminds us that everyone, no matter how different, deserves to be seen, celebrated, and included. It inspires our campers to lift one another up, to welcome new friends, and to treat every person (and every goose!) with kindness.

When kids work together, help a friend, or invite someone new to play, the Rainbow Goose

often “appears” — through a trail of rainbow feathers, footprints, or a candy-filled nest that mysteriously shows up at camp.

Some say it’s magic.

We say it’s the power of inclusion at work. 🌈

❄️ Explorium Fest 2025: The Winter of Kindness

This year, we’re opening Explorium Fest 2025 with “The Rainbow Goose and the Winter of Kindness,” an original interactive performance that brings the legend to life.

Audiences will journey from snowy Maggie Pond to the mountaintops, following the Rainbow Goose as he discovers that kindness shines brightest in winter — when people come together to lift one another up.

It’s a story of hope, inclusion, and the magic that happens when we choose to care.

So if you see a flash of rainbow feathers around Breckenridge — or find a colorful egg tucked in the snow — you’ll know what it means:

The Rainbow Goose has returned.

And that means kindness is taking flight once again. 🪶💖

🌈🪿Conoce al ganso

Si pasas suficiente tiempo cerca de Maggie Pond o Peak 9, podrías captar un destello de color en el rabillo del ojo: un brillo que danza sobre la nieve o se refleja en el cielo de verano. Algunos dicen que es solo la luz del sol reflejada en el agua…

Pero los locales —y nuestros campistas— saben la verdad. Es el Ganso.

🪶 Un Ganso Como Ningún Otro

Hace mucho tiempo, vivía un joven ganso en Maggie Pond cuyas plumas no eran blancas ni grises como las de los demás. Brillaban con tonos del arcoíris: rojos, azules, amarillos y verdes que resplandecían al sol.

Pero en lugar de celebrar los colores, los otros gansos se burlaban y graznaban al Ganso. Sintiendo dolor y fuera de lugar, el Ganso desplegó sus alas y voló alto hacia las montañas —hasta el 4th of July Bowl—, donde podía descansar en paz bajo la nieve.

Por mucho tiempo, el ganso se mantuvo lejos.

Luego, un verano, mientras el equipo de Mountain Top Explorium preparaba el campamento, alguien vio un destello de color deslizándose sobre Maggie Pond otra vez. El Ganso había regresado —tímido, curioso y cauteloso— para ver si las cosas habían cambiado.

Empezamos a dejar pequeñas sorpresas: plumas brillantes, piedritas relucientes e incluso algunos dulces de colores del arcoíris. Y para nuestra sorpresa, el Ganso comenzó a devolver algo: nidos de huevos de arcoíris llenos de golosinas coloridas, plumas, o huellas que conducían a la siguiente sorpresa.

Fue entonces cuando descubrimos el secreto del ganso:

El Ganso solo visita lugares donde las personas son inclusivas, justas y amables.

💫 Un Símbolo de Inclusión y Asombro

Hoy, el Ganso se ha convertido en una leyenda de Mountain Top Explorium —y en un símbolo preciado de lo que representamos.

La historia nos recuerda que todos, sin importar cuán diferentes sean, merecen ser vistos, celebrados e incluidos. Inspira a nuestros campistas a apoyarse unos a otros, a dar la bienvenida a nuevos amigos y a tratar a cada persona (¡y a cada ganso!) con amabilidad.

Cuando los niños trabajan juntos, ayudan a un amigo o invitan a alguien nuevo a jugar, el Ganso a menudo “aparece” —a través de un rastro de plumas de arcoíris, huellas, o un nido lleno de dulces que misteriosamente aparece en el campamento.

Algunos dicen que es magia.

❄️ Explorium Fest 2025: El Invierno de la Amabilidad

Este año, abrimos Explorium Fest 2025 con “El Ganso y el Invierno de la Amabilidad”, una obra interactiva original que da vida a la leyenda.

El público viajará desde el nevado Maggie Pond hasta las cimas de las montañas, siguiendo al Ganso mientras descubre que la amabilidad brilla más en invierno —cuando las personas se unen para apoyarse mutuamente.

Es una historia de esperanza, inclusión y la magia que ocurre cuando elegimos cuidar a los demás.

Así que, si ves un destello de plumas de arcoíris alrededor de Breckenridge —o encuentras un huevo colorido escondido en la nieve— sabrás lo que significa:

El Ganso ha regresado.

Y eso significa que la amabilidad está tomando vuelo una vez más. 🪶💖
