Explorium Children's Museum

Of course, you have to start with the Explorium Children's Museum! We're the perfect hub for imagination and hands-on fun. Visit 7-days per week and you'll discover:
Arts & Crafts: Get those creative juices flowing with ever-changing craft projects designed to spark imagination and artistic expression.
Imagination Play: From dress-up corners to building zones, our exhibits encourage open-ended play where kids can be anything they dream of.
STEM activities: There’s tons of exhibits to inspire a future scientist in your family.
Kids Night Out: Are you looking for a night out on the town without children? Check out the Kids Night Out program.
Summer Day Camp: If you have a grandchild who is a rising kindergartener, sign them up for a day or a whole week of summer day camp.
Admission and Memberships: Your admission is good all day, so you can pop out for lunch or a nap and come back for more fun! We also offer memberships for frequent visitors.
South Branch Library

Just a short walk from the Explorium, the South Branch Library is a hidden gem for kids and adults alike. Head to the children's section where you'll find:
Kids Section: A cozy and inviting space filled with books for all ages.
Activities & Games: Beyond books, the library offers a great selection of activities and games to keep little hands busy.
And Lots of Different Activities: Check their schedule for story times, craft sessions, and other engaging programs perfect for grandkids.
Breck Create and Masonic Hall

Immerse yourselves in the local arts scene with Breck Create and the Masonic Hall. This vibrant arts district offers a wonderful blend of culture and creativity. There is a rotating Art Installations and often, you'll find kid-friendly activities that provide thought provoking extensions for each installation. These are often found upstairs or you can ask the attendant for a special Isaac the Troll themed workbook.
Breckenridge History

Step back in time and discover the rich history of Breckenridge! The town core is home to several fascinating museums that offer a glimpse into the past. Each museum is free and full of guided activities for you and your grandchildren.
Welcome Center: Start your historical journey at the Welcome Center, which also has convenient bathrooms and interpretive exhibits upstairs.
Edwin Carter Discovery Center: Explore the life and work of Edwin Carter, a pioneering naturalist and taxidermist. Kids will be fascinated by the preserved animals and the stories of early Breckenridge.
Barney Ford House Museum: Learn about Barney Ford, an escaped slave who became a prominent businessman and civil rights advocate in Breckenridge. His story is an inspiring one that offers valuable lessons in perseverance and equality.
Isaac the Troll & Highline Railroad Park

Head to the south end of Breckenridge and you can find two great activities at the base of Boreas Pass Road. You can take the bus, make the short walk from Main Street, or find easy parking.
Isaac the Troll: Embark on a short, easy hike to find Isaac, a magnificent and very cool recycled art troll. The walk is perfect for any age, including toddlers, and offers fantastic photo opportunities.
Highline Railroad Park & Playground: On the other side of the ice rink, you'll discover the Railroad Park & Playground. This fantastic spot features benches, shade, and a fun playground where kids can burn off some energy while you relax.
Ride the Bus!
One of the most fun and easy ways to get around Breckenridge is by taking the free town bus! Sometimes the bus is all you need for an activity.

The Breckenridge Main Street Trolley: Keep an eye out for the Breckenridge Main Street Trolley. It looks just like the trolley from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, making it an extra special treat for little fans!
