Explorium Leadership Corps (ELC) :


Step into leadership this summer! The Explorium Leadership Corps (ELC) is a hands-on program where you’ll build confidence, responsibility, and real-world leadership skills. Learn by doing—mentor younger students, lead groups, and run activities—all in a supportive, hands-on environment.


Dates: June 15-18, June 22-25, June 29-Jul 2, Aug 3-6, Aug 10-13, Aug 17-21

Grades: 6-9

Cost:

  • Before March 5 $275 (Summit District: $225)

  • After March 5th $325 (Summit District: $275)

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 to 5:30 PM (option to add Friday


A Day in the Life


Over the 4-day workshop, you and your cohort will explore key leadership skills, reflect on your growth as a leader, and put what you’re learning into practice with real students by:

  • Supporting Base Camp Operations

  • Leading Games & Activities

  • Working Directly with experienced Lead Program Facilitators


What You Will Learn


You and your cohort will dive into leadership through hands-on workshops and practice, including:

  • Leadership, communication, and team-building

  • Group management and mentoring younger campers

  • Teaching games, lessons, and smooth transitions

  • Safety, professionalism, and camp systems

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution

  • Reflection, trust-building, and leadership challenges


Great supplement to the Leadership & Lifesaving Program

The Explorium Leadership Corps (ELC) expands on the skills learned in the Leadership and Lifesaving program by applying them in real camp settings. Students move beyond safety fundamentals into leadership, mentorship, and teaching practice. This creates a natural progression from certification to hands-on leadership.


Recognition & Rewards

Upon completing one or more 4-day workshops, ELC students will:

  • Receive recognition as an Explorium Leadership Corps Member

  • Become eligible for paid leadership opportunities throughout the summer, including Kids Night Out Intern, with a stipend for every day completed

  • Earn a leadership certificate with documented service hours at the end of the summer
