The second week of Summer Day Camp at Mountain Top had a theme of "Outdoor Adventure Awaits", and our activities certainly lived up to the name. We started the week with a Scavenger Hunt field trip on Burro Trail, followed by a watercolor spray art craft!
On Tuesday we were fortunate enough to visit our plot at the Breckenridge Community Garden. Campers were able to plant seeds of their choice, which we will nurture throughout the summer, and eventually eat when they are ready to harvest! Wednesday's activities were all about leaves. Campers learned about the anatomy of the leaf and then used them to create beautiful rainbow paintings.
On Thursday we learned about rocks and flowers! The kids stacked rocks to create art, and then painted them. In the afternoon, we dissected flowers and learned how to color our own at home! Finally, on Friday, we combined all aspects of nature into one day. Campers created DIY fishing poles, made popsicle stick tents, and went on a Forest Health field trip with FDRD! We learned all about our local ecosystem and even picked up trash on Peak 9 that was leftover from ski season!
Thank you to all of our campers for a fabulous Outdoor Adventure Week!
