Looking Back and Moving Forward: A Fall 2025 Update

Since the start of the new year, our programs have continued with exciting growth and increased impact. From launching new school year initiatives to a bustling summer camp, we've been able to connect with more families and provide enriching experiences to our community members. We're excited to share a few highlights from our work and to give you a glimpse into what's next.

Why Mountain Top?

“I can say without exaggeration that I would not have been able to live and work in Breckenridge these past three years without Mountain Top.”

  -Natalie Munson, Camp Parent

Summer Camp

ree

The summer was filled with exciting adventures, and several new activities. Many of the program additions are just the foundation for future success. Below are just a few highlights from the summer.

Direct Impact - Served 320 campers with approximately 70% of registrations were from those enrolled in Summit School District;

Scholarship Support - A scholarship rate of $70 per day is provided to each camper from Summit School District. Along with the District wide scholarship rate, we distributed almost $12,000 in scholarship funding.

Kayaking - With such close access to Maggie pond it only made sense to add kayaking to our program. It was a great first year and we’re already looking forward to adding stand up paddle boarding and being prepared to travel to different water sources across Summit County.

Night at the Museum - We hosted two successful sleepover programs filled with free play at the Museum, a night kayak, and a sunrise celebration on the shores of Dillon Reservoir. Next year we’ll be sure to add even more programs.

School Year

ree

We have just started our transition into the 2025-2026 school year with the restart of our after school, school break, and STEM Enrichment programs. Below are just a few highlights from the start of the school year.

Scholarship Rate - Mountain Top Explorium continues to work to make our programs more accessible. We have accomplished through our outreach efforts and pricing allowing families with financial barriers to access the program at a scholarship rate of $1 per day. So far our enrollment includes 70% of the Upper Blue and 30% of the Breckenridge after school students qualifying for the scholarship rate.

Special Needs - Similar to the 2024-2025 school year we are supporting a number of students requiring an increased student to staff ratio. We have hired an extra instructor to provide our students with special needs the support that they need.

STEM Enrichment - Through the support of Breck F3T, Copper Environmental Foundation, and Vail Health we’re excited to have redeveloped many of our in-class STEM workshops.

Leadership Programs

ree

In the winter of 2025 we started a paid internship program which turned into a summer employment opportunity filled with a summer full of training, and on the job experience. We were thankful to have two amazing interns, Josceline Ortega and Sheccid Ramirez, who were featured in the Summit Daily. Both have now successfully started their freshman year focused on a degree in education. This program will continue to develop and evolve into a comprehensive program teaching our students about leadership, and career pathways in the field of education.

Mountain Top Picnic

ree

We had an incredible time at our inaugural Mountain Top Picnic on July 31st! Thanks to our event host, Country Boy Mine, the picnic brought together over 220 local community members and families for a night filled with food, community, and mine tours. While the Picnic was a fundraiser, the true highlight was the amazing community connection we helped foster.

Plan for the future

We are working on plans to expand our programming and continue to serve our community in new and impactful ways.

Leadership Programs - It started with a paid internship program and is evolving into a collection of programs teaching our oldest participants about leadership, education, and skill development. In late September, we’ll be hosting an American Red Cross Babysitting, CPR and 1st Aid course, and in October, we’ll host a group of student mentors to support our school break programs

Robotics -  We are preparing to create a series of after school robotics courses starting in January of 2026! We will be providing programming to grades 4 and 5 before expanding foundational programs for the lower elementary grades.

Explorium Children’s Museum - We are continuing to reimagine our exhibits with our next focus on bringing an updated LEGO exhibit allowing young patrons to practice their design skills.
