Mountain Top Explorium has both a Base Camp and Summit Series. Base Camp is a traditional day camp program located in Breckenridge, CO fusing STEM and outdoor education. Campers can sign up for the day, week or entire summer. Summit Series programs are specialty programs exploring a single topic for 4-days within a small cohort of campers.
Blend robotics education with outdoor exploration while investigating real world applications of engineering and coding. By analyzing how humans play and work, we’ll create and modify VEX robots to score soccer goals precisely and conquer other challenges presented. No experience needed!
Dates: June 15–18
Grades: 3–5
Cost:
Before March 5 $425 (Summit District: $350)
After March 5th $475 (Summit District: $375)
Schedule: Mon–Thurs, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (option to add Friday Base Camp)
Weekly Highlights
Build a Robot: Learn the parts of VEX Robots and build a Base Bot step by step. This foundation teaches attention to detail while giving students the skills to modify and troubleshoot their robots.
Design Specialized Robots: As a team students will build a base robot and modify them to complete challenges such as robot soccer or tug of war. Different challenges will require different arms, weight distribution, or torque engaging critical thinking skills.
Outdoor Exploration: Each day we will spend time outside hiking, kayaking, and playing games examining the skills humans have and how we can enhance our robots abilities too.
Group Innovation: Students will collaborate in small groups to create & modify their robots and make team names & logos. We will build a supportive environment where creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving come to life in teams and as competitors.
Robotics in Action: Learn how robots are helping our world everyday through guest speakers and research sessions.
Student Showcase: At the end of the week students will have the opportunity to showcase their hard work from the week for their family and friends.
